The Annenberg School for Communication is a result of the merging of two undergraduate departments. The first building (East Wing) is a Quincy Jones-designed building, built in 1974, was erected as a small graduate school. The second building (West Wing), also designed by Jones, was added 10 years later. The task at hand was to integrate the existing inefficient circulation pattern between the two buildings into one central circulation zone to promote a space to gather and assemble.
Our firm performed a seismic review of the existing structure to identify key deficiencies. Based upon our review, a written report summarizing the key deficiencies was prepared. Included in report were conceptual recommendations to mitigate deficiencies identified.
We completed the renovation of the two buildings into one, which
included improving the building circulation, academic program function and systems. Offices, classrooms and restrooms were added. High tech infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems were replaced and furniture and lighting fixtures refurbished.
