The existing 1928 Myron Hunt structure was completely architecturally remodeled with minor structural modifications for a new elevator, stairs, interior ceilings, operable partitions, and a glass covered patio enclosure.
The new 3-story structure replaced the 1950 addition, which was completely demolished for the new Dining Facility, Post Office and Student activity rooms. The new structure is primarily steel frame, metal
deck and SMF building with exposed glu-laminated and T&G decking at the high roof and main stair tower. Existing conditions such as caissons, tunnels, piping, etc, created engineering challenges along with the combination of steel and wood structural materials used to achieve the architectural expression for continuity with the existing 1928 structure.
