The Technology (66,000 square feet) Building utilized a Type II Fire Resistive with sprinklers. It is 5 stories in height with a rectangular footprint with a partial subterranean basement that connects to an underground utility tunnel. The subgrade structure is metal deck on concrete fill floor/roof construction.  Steel eccentric braced frames are placed at the corners of the building.  They occur over the full height of the buildings.  Gravity and lateral loads are supported by a conventional reinforced concrete spread footing foundations.  All major mechanical equipment is placed on the roof of the building.  Although the main structural system of the building is straightforward, the framing for the exterior wall was quite the opposite.
