The Pomona College projects included the addition of a new 3- story, 48,000 square foot biology building and the seismic retrofit of an existing science building facility to include 45,000 square feet of renovated space. A 60-foot tall glass entry rotunda surrounds a free-standing double cantilever set of main stairs. Due to building height restrictions, we utilized a cast-in-place concrete, two-way slab with shear walls structural system for the buildings which house classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, a greenhouse, and
animal research facilities. The project also included two pedestrian bridges connecting
the new biology building to the existing facilities.
