100,000 square feet
The Conservation Institute Laboratory at the Getty Center is an irregular curve-shaped building with an exposed circular elevator tower and additional ornamental exterior stairs. Typically clad in travertine, the approximate 100,000 square feet include laboratories, art storage, and special configured research spaces with climate controlled systems. An over-structure plaza
at the entry level plaza overlooks the garden levels below. The lab is comprised of structural steel for the upper five levels and two levels of concrete slabs below garden level.
