A recognized leader in the field of structural engineering, Robert E. Englekirk, Ph.D., S.E. founded Robert Englekirk Consulting Structural Engineers, inc. (REI) in 1969 in Los Angeles, California.  With the understanding that structural engineering is a science and must respond to the needs of today's society, he believes that his engineering must balance serviceability, economy and safety with the design and function of a building.

Today, the firm has grown into three specialized entities.  Englekirk & Sabol Consulting Structural Engineers, Inc. (ESI) was founded in 1978 and Englekirk Systems Development, Inc. (ESDI) in 1993.

In 1999, Englekirk Partners Consulting Structural Engineers, Inc. (EPI) was formed.  Led by 6 key principals mentored and trained by Dr. Englekirk, the firm focuses on new client development and now services the clientele developed by REI.
