Cary Grant Pavilion Hollywood Park Inglewood, California

Built in 1984 for the initial Breeder's Cup Races, Hollywood Park is a 364' x 198' trapezoidal 6 level grandstand. It features two separate covered seating levels with structurally uninterrupted clear lines of vision across the front 364 feet. The upper level has a 42 foot clear column tree, open air track view while the lower level features a 20 foot structural glass enclosed view. The cantilevered structural members were erected with computated cambers and deflections were monitored during erection phases to facilitate subsequent fit and construction of the precast seats as well as the structural glass enclosing the lower seating levels. Access to the upper levels is provided by an 80' diameter, 97' high circular concrete stairway.
