Based on the design-build method of delivery for this project, we were faced with the challenge of satisfying the Department of Defense's Antiterrorism Standards for buildings in a creative and efficient manner. We selected an eccentric braced frame lateral system for the steel office buildings. By logistically placing the frames around the perimeter of the buildings, we were able to economically achieve 12 psf total steel tonnage.
