The Paso Robles Public Safety Complex is unique in that it combines a fire facility with a police and emergency operations facility. Difficult operational requirements and a tight budget required creative solutions from the design team. The final solution used every possible building material: exterior walls of decorative block, a second floor of structural steel, metal deck and concrete fill, and roof framing using prefabricated wood trusses.

All of these different materials were melded together to form one cohesive structure that fulfilled the Owner's operational needs as well as budget.
