MIXED-USE

Pine Square
Long Beach, California

5 story apartment complex
50,000 sf retail/restaurant
16 screen AMC theater complex
2 level/400 car subterranean parking

The Pine Square development is a rare and unique project not only for its mixed-use occupancy, but also for the materials that comprise it. The main structure of the complex is a 400 car, two-level subterranean post-tension concrete parking garage. The Plaza level has retail space with some parking and is a spring board for two levels of structural steel, the first of which contains a 60,000 square foot AMC theater complex. The upper steel level is long span tapered steel girders to accommodate the 60'’to 70'’theater space. The tapered steel girders and the lightweight concrete over metal deck support 142 wood-framed apartments above. The apartments rise an additional four levels plus lofts and surround a series of spacious open courts. A signature sign highlighting the theaters and complex covers a second building which connects directly to the east. The building provides an additional 40,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space in a two-story steel frame structure.
