The challenging aspect of the Arden Fair Mall was the difficult task of constructing a new second level of stores above an existing mall built in the 1960s. The mall remained fully operational during the construction activities. Close coordination between the contractor, the mall tenants, and our firm was required to achieve this task. Prior to its renovation, the mall was a single level, enclosed shopping center containing approximately 196,000 square feet. The renovation involved the addition of vaulted skylights and grand arches and courts throughout allowing for natural light to illuminate the mall. The site currently supports 620,000 square feet of leasable retail shops, three major department stores, a 450-seat food court, and a multi-screen cinema.
