Beverly Hills Waterworks
Beverly Hills, California

The former water treatment plant, an architectural and civil engineering landmark, had been closed since being damaged in the 1971 San Fernando Earthquake and was in danger of being demolished. Encouraged by numerous historical preservationists, the City of Beverly Hills retained our firm to carefully evaluate the structure. We opined that it could be cost-effectively restored and rehabilitated. The project, recently completed, now serves as the archives and museum of the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences and has received several preservation awards.
