A 15-story building familiar to film viewers because of its imposing, ornately detailed facade, the 1923 Hall of Justice was built prior to the seismic codes first introduced after the 1933 Long Beach Earthquake. building’s historical facade, to provide for continuous operation during construction, and to reduce rehabilitation costs, we utilized exterior strengthening systems that took advantage of two interior light wells.
