Jacob Javits Federal
Office Building & Court of International Trade,
26 Federal Plaza
New York, New York
26 Federal Plaza consists of the 44-story steel frame Jacob Javits Federal Office Building which houses various essential service agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition to the high-rise tower, there is a separate eight-story Court of International Trade structure hung from deep steel trusses spanning the entire width of the structure. Our seismic study included a detailed site visit to assess existing conditions, a site-specific seismic hazard analysis to develop
realistic seismic loads, and a three dimensional analysis to assess the forces and deformations generated by the seismic loads. Based on our evaluation, we developed recommendations to address nonstructural deficiencies.
