The United States Navy facilities consist of many different types of structures throughout the world. We directed large seismic studies at several bases including San Diego’s Naval Station, Naval Supply Center and Naval Amphibious Bases, as well as bases in Guam and Italy. Our involvement in these studies was prime consultant to the Navy. The studies encompassed the preliminary seismic review of all of the buildings at a given base, detailed seismic evaluations of suspect buildings, preparation of priority rankings for structural strengthening, development of mitigation concepts, and the preparation of structural engineering design documents (Buildings 1 and 30 at the San Diego Naval Supply Center) for the required strengthening work.
