Penwal Industries created the full-scale replica of Saturn V as a global monument and reminder of the accomplishments achieved by our country. The Saturn V is 363 feet tall and 33 feet in diameter, has 2.5 million solder joints and includes five full-scale F-1 engines, the most powerful engine ever built. Apollo astronaut Richard F. Gordon, a member of the Apollo 12 mission, participated on the design team for Penwal. Displayed at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, it is the tallest structure in Alabama. The replica was constructed in California, then disassembled section by section and transported by truck to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center where it was vertically assembled.
