Claremont, CA | 3 stories | 42,480 sq ft

The Richard C. Seaver Biology Building at Pomona College is a 3-story, 42,480-square-foot biology building featuring a 60-foot glass entry rotunda surrounding a free-standing double cantilever set of main stairs. Due to building height restrictions, we utilized a cast-in-place concrete, two-way slab with shear walls structural system for the buildings which house classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, a greenhouse, and animal research facilities. As part of the development, an existing 45,000-square-foot science building facility was seismically retrofit and two pedestrian bridges added to connect the new biology building to the existing facilities.
