Los Angeles, CA | 4 stories | 35,000 sq ft

Through an adaptive re-use of this downtown landmark fire station facing demolition, we restored, expanded and seismically upgraded the building to function as a corporate headquarters, cultural affairs office, and restaurant. Most significant about the project are the unique characteristics of the 1912 historic structure that were restored to their original condition, maintaining the integrity of the building, while at the same time bringing the building up to current codes (i.e. disabled access, seismic, fire/safety, etc.) under the strict dictates and approvals of the U.S. Department of Interior, the State Office of Preservation, and the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles.
