Garden Grove, CA |Hotel: 9 stories, 603 rooms / Waterpark: 3 acres | 920,371 sq ft

The Wisconsin based Great Wolf Resorts brings a 12-acre hotel, resort and conference center to the Garden Grove community. With 12 parks already in operation, the new woodsy-themed inn and family entertainment complex is the first of its kind in the region. Great Wolf Lodge Southern California consists of a new 603-room, 9-story hotel featuring a two-story lobby with associated amenities including a bar and grill, pizza parlor, hamburger joint and sweet shop over a 161,935-square-foot Temptation Alley in the basement. The 121,000-square-foot, almost entirely indoor, water park is exclusive to resort guests.

The structural design consists of tilt up wall construction with the tallest wall at 84′ tall and 248,000 pounds. Only one crane in California can accommodate the erection of these walls joining the small pool of heaviest/tallest tilt up panels constructed to date. The roof structure for the water park is comprised of 110-foot-long steel trusses supporting 10 3/8-inch wide by 54-inch deep glue laminated beams spanning 92 feet. 2 7/8-inch-thick laminated wood planks span between the glue laminated beams to give the water park a wood lodge feel. A 3-story concrete bunker building inside the water park houses the mechanical equipment and wave machine.
