Los Angeles, CA | 17 stories

Changing competitive conditions required significant functional alterations to the existing 17-story hotel, a beautifully detailed brick, terra cotta, and steel structure built in the 1920’s. We performed the structural engineering on the project including the addition of a new bank of elevators, restoration of ornate meeting rooms, alterations to back-of-house facilities, and rehabilitation of ornamental detailing, all performed while the hotel remained in operation. Incomplete record drawings and architectural design changes during construction demanded a strong field presence from our engineering personnel to limit construction delays.
