The South Coast Plaza Renovation consisted of the conversion of a former 166,000-square-foot, 3-level Robinsons-May department store anchor into an extension of the existing mall and the renovation of the existing Crystal Court mall area.

The renovation included adding elevators and altering the common mall openings between levels, removing stairs and adding escalators, extending and adding a curved curtain wall east entry, revising and extending floor areas to accept pedestrian bridge traffic, and revisions to the exterior façade.

The anchor store conversion included development of a unique façade and tenant improvements for the west-coast flagship store of Crate & Barrel which included extending an existing balcony and strengthening of floor framing for added loading and an in-store escalator. Another corner was extended to include additional lease space and outdoor balcony space.

We provided extensive additional services, which included numerous revised design needed for existing field conditions and assisted in several construction means and methods. Our services also included the framing for large cantilevered exterior signage in several locations.
