Los Angeles, CA | 9 stories / 300 volumes | 232,000 sq ft

The famed historic art deco Bullock’s Wilshire built in 1929, located on Wilshire Boulevard and Westmoreland Avenue transformed into the new Southwestern University School of Law. Our firm provided the structural engineering for the 232,000-square-foot renovation and restoration. The library encompasses 84,000 square feet of the University and will have the capacity to house 300,000 volumes, networked seating, computer labs, classrooms, study areas, and staff offices. Included in the restoration process was the structural design of a new spiral staircase, structural supports added to brace and support historical finishes and varied sitework of elevator supports, new exterior stairs and retaining wall.
