Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA

Our firm was retained to performed wind tunnel testing and analysis of the 230-foot-tall Mobile Service Tower (MST) for the Space Launch Complex 3 East at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The goals of the program were to: 1) Determine the overall airflow characteristics and locate regions of vortex formation and high turbulence through smoke visualization, 2) Determine wind loads for the design of the structural framed, and 3) Determine local and pressures on the roof and exterior and interior wall surfaces for cladding design.
