The Frank Gehry designed Ocean Ave Project brings new significance to his hometown of Santa Monica with a defining mixed-use development. The development integrates new construction for a 12-story, 110-key hotel, 4 and 3-story buildings to house 100 residential apartment units, retail / restaurant space sprinkled throughout and two levels of subterranean parking for community members to enjoy in the “City of Inspiration.”

The two existing historic landmarks on the site were rehabilitated into a new art museum campus. This involved the careful preservation, adaptive reuse, and on-site repositioning of the two designated City Landmark Buildings. The two buildings were moved off site to a temporary location to ensure proper support for the historic structures was established through shoring, permanent caissons, and grade beams to support the new design and then repositioned back.

The project will be designed and constructed to meet LEED Platinum certification.
