Buena Park, CA | Office: 14 stories / Retail: Seven 2 stories / Hotel: 5 stories | 400,000

The Source is a 400,000-square-foot mixed use development covering a 12.5 acre site. A 14-story office building anchors the complex of seven 2-story retail structures with associated restaurant amenities, a CGV cinema, and a 4-star hotel.

The office building utilizes a core shear wall as part of the lateral system which allowed for high floor to ceiling volume and an open floor plate. We selected lateral systems of special moment frames and buckling restrained brace frames supported by a combination of spread footings and a mat foundation. ConXtech was the structural solution for the hotel structure which sits above the cinema and 2 stories of retail. The ConXtech space frame system allows for architectural flexibility (no bearing walls or braced frames) and quick erection with all bolted connections and minimal field welding. Rammed aggregate piers were used to improve pure soil conditions on site and mitigate potential of liquefaction.
