Los Angeles, CA | 4-level Dive Tower, 1-story Support Facility | 8,000 sq ft

The University of California, Los Angeles Spieker Aquatic Center is a new intercollegiate pool with two dive platforms, a 4-level platform dive tower and a 1-story concrete masonry building containing lockers, shower, support offices and equipment. The Aquatic Center features a unique architectural roof system and dive tower. The dive tower and the platform construction is reinforced concrete. Our close coordination with the architect for the glass and wood panel on multiple sides of the structure as well as the suspended architectural stair system realized their goals.

A unique natural ventilation design was utilized for the structure that houses the locker rooms and showers. There is no mechanical air conditioning system for the structure – instead a separation was designed between the roof structure and the lower block wall for necessary air flow.
