Los Angeles, CA | 80 ft

The City of Los Angeles in conjunction with the Wende Museum, The Federal Republic of Germany Counsel in Los Angeles, and the city of Berlin recreated a page of history with the Wall Project which consists of an 80-foot wall spanning down Wilshire Boulevard in commemoration of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

Twenty years ago, the Berlin Wall was torn down. Original segments of the wall were on display in front of 5900 Wilshire, across the street from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. While it stood, the wall served as a public art canvas for graffiti and protests. While in Los Angeles various selected artists featured their work on the wall. Selected sections of the wall were ceremoniously destroyed by several invited dignitaries during an event hosted by The Wende Musuem.
